Ally McCoist faces an even tougher task to lure Scott Allan to Rangers after Liverpool last night entered the race to sign the Dundee United starlet. Sportsmail can reveal that Kenny Dalglish hopes to fend off competition from the Ibrox side, Celtic and West Brom for the Scotland Under-21 cap.
The Baggies have already had a £400,000 bid accepted by the Tannadice club, but Allan's future
remains up in the air.
McCoist has spoken of his desire to land the midfielder, urging him to put Scottish silverware ahead of English gold.
With the Anfield giants now in the running, however, both he and Celtic counterpart Neil Lennon appear to be facing a losing battle in persuading the 20-year-old he would be best served by staying in Scotland.
