In demand: Liverpool have entered the race to sign Bolton defender Cahill
Liverpool have entered the race to sign Gary Cahill.
The Bolton defender, who is out of contract at the end of the season, looked set to join Chelsea after a £7million fee was agreed on Friday.
But the highly-rated 26-year-old has failed to settle on personal terms at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas saying that the two parties were some way off finalising the dealAnd According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are ready to vest their interest.
Manager Kenny Dalglish is a huge admirer of Cahill and is prepared to swoop, with the defender reportedly preferring to stay in the north.
Cahill joined Bolton from Aston Villa for £5million in January 2008 and has emerged as one of the country's finest central defenders, forcing his way into Fabio Capello's England squad.
