One of the best young talents emerging on the European stage. Markovic has all the hallmarks of a young Michael Owen. He is fast, skilful and direct. Most importantly he also knows where the goal is.
Markovic expressed a desire to join Chelsea and they have certainly shown interest but they need a striker who can come in now with pressure increasing on Andre Villas-Boas.
That has allowed Liverpool to step into negotiations and they will look to wrap up a deal.
However, the price will be around £8million and the deal is more likely to be agreed now but put on ice until the summer.
Markovic only made his debut last May but has scored six goals in 16 games this season and is on the brink of a national team call-up.
